Georgia Pre-K Week is underway and Senator Chuck Payne helped kick things off with a visit to Woodlawn Elementary School, where he read 'Every Amazing Song'.
This year’s featured book was co-authored by Coy Bowles of the Zac Brown Band and former UGA football player and Super Bowl champion Malcolm Mitchell. The book helps children build music and active listening skills while encouraging confidence and self-expression.

Murray County Schools is partnering with Edia Learning to make it easier for families and schools to communicate about student attendance.
If your child is absent, you may receive a text message from our new AI Attendance Assistant. Families can reply directly to the message, send documentation such as doctor’s notes, and communicate in the language they’re most comfortable using.
As with any new tool, there may be a few adjustments along the way. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the rollout and make sure the system is working as smoothly as possible for our families.

Dr. Winkler has spent 23 years in education, all with Murray County Schools, and has served as a principal for the past 10 years. Before moving into administration, she was a middle school math teacher.
Her favorite part of the job is being around students and trying to be a positive light in their day. North Murray is especially meaningful to her because both of her sons are graduates, and she spent much of her career at Bagley Middle School.
Outside of school, she’s a big Alabama football fan, a former college softball player, and is known for making a mean chocolate gravy and homemade biscuits.
Most of all, she hopes every student knows she cares about them and wants them to be Mountaineers forever.
Thank you, Dr. Winkler, for the energy, support, and leadership you bring to North Murray High School!

We’re kicking off National Principals Month by recognizing Jennifer Jones, principal of Gladden Middle School!
Mrs. Jones is in her 28th year in education and her third year as principal of GMS. She started out teaching special education at both the middle school and Pre-K levels and later spent 13 years as an assistant principal.
She says the best part of being a principal is helping others and watching students and teachers grow. What makes Gladden special to her is the staff and the way they push students to succeed while still keeping the “GLAD in GLADDEN!”
When she’s not at school, you might find Mrs. Jones reading a mystery novel, working on a craft project, watching an old favorite like The Andy Griffith Show, or cheering on the Dawgs.
Her message to students: “The biggest battle you will fight is the one between your own ears.” She hopes students stay focused on their goals, keep learning, and keep pressing forward.

Students across Murray County Schools celebrated today by crunching into Georgia-grown apples from Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge!
Crunch for Lunch celebrates Farm to School and locally grown foods while giving students a chance to enjoy a fresh Georgia apple as part of their school day.
Judging by these pictures, they understood the assignment. 😂 Even Dr. Wright got in on the crunch!

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank Mobile Pantry will be providing food assistance to families in our community this summer.
The first distribution date is Saturday, June 6, from 8:00-10:00 AM at Murray County High School, while supplies last.
Additional distribution dates are scheduled for July 11 at North Murray High School and August 1 at Murray County High School.
