Today, we were proud to celebrate two exciting STEM grant awards that will make a meaningful impact for our students!

At Bagley Middle School, Mr. McEntire received a grant to support his technology classes, where students are diving into hands-on learning through robotics, rocket assembly, coding, and more.

At Woodlawn Elementary, Mrs. Wilcox was awarded a grant to support the school’s hydroponics system. Through this project, 3rd-grade students will grow fresh food that can be given back to their Helping Hands Pantry.

We are so thankful for opportunities like this that pour into our schools and students. Congratulations to these outstanding educators and their schools!

A heartfelt thank you to TVA, North Georgia Electric, and Congressman Fuller's office for investing in the future of Murray County Schools.

It's time for another....... Good News Spotlight!

Mrs. Sheri Carr, CES art teacher, recently brought creativity to life in a whole new way by securing a grant to host the school’s first-ever glow-in-the-dark art show—and what a special night it was!

Every student had artwork proudly displayed during the school’s multicultural night, creating a memorable experience for both students and their families. Through her tireless efforts, Mrs. Carr made sure each child felt seen, celebrated, and proud of their work.

“Mrs. Carr’s passion for her students shines just as brightly as their artwork. She created an experience where every child felt special, and our families felt truly connected to our school. We are so blessed to have her at CES,” shared Principal Audre Allen.

Her dedication didn’t just light up the art room—it helped bring families together for an incredible parent-teacher night.
We are so thankful for educators like Mrs. Carr who go above and beyond to make learning meaningful and joyful for our students.

It’s been a busy and exciting day across Murray County Schools as we focused on preparing our students for their future!

At MCHS, in partnership with the Murray County Chamber of Commerce, students had the opportunity to connect with local businesses and explore a variety of career paths during today’s Career Connect event.

Meanwhile, our Coker Cubs had a wonderful time at their Careers on Wheels event, getting an up-close look at different jobs and the people who serve our community each day.

We are so thankful for the community partners and our amazing teachers and staff who pour into our students and help them see all the possibilities ahead.

Safety Update:
Local law enforcement asked three of our schools near the hospital to be placed on perimeter safety today while local law enforcement responded to a possible situation nearby.
A perimeter safety is not a lockdown—it simply means students remain inside the building as a precaution.
The situation has since been resolved, and it was determined there was never a threat to our schools or students. All schools have returned to normal operations.
As always, we appreciate our strong partnership with local law enforcement and your continued trust.

Our 2nd graders had a wonderful time at Health Fair Week!

Students rotated through engaging stations where they learned all about taking care of their bodies and minds. Our School Nutrition team did a fantastic job teaching students how to build a healthy plate and make smart food choices each day.

We were also grateful to partner with community organizations like AdventHealth and Highland Rivers Behavioral Health, who shared important lessons on both physical and emotional wellness.

Our PE staff helped students learn about heart health and the importance of staying active, while our talented Healthcare Science students from each high school served their feeder schools by leading hands-on lessons in proper handwashing.

It was truly a special week focused on building healthy habits that will last a lifetime. We’re thankful for everyone who made it possible!

Due to the potential of severe thunderstorms, high winds, downed trees, and possible power outages, Murray County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay, Monday, March 16. We know delays can cause issues for everyone, but the timing of this storm, along with the powerful winds that are predicted, could make travel very dangerous for our buses, staff, and student drivers. We believe a 2-hour delay will give everyone enough light to be able to see any potential hazards and get to school safely.

Bus routes will begin 2 hours later than normal, and school doors will open 2 hours after their regularly scheduled times. Breakfast will be served at school, as normal. If the weather becomes more severe or issues arise due to the predicted storms that further affect school tomorrow, we will let you know ASAP. Please be weather aware tonight and stay safe in the morning!
