Murray County Board of Education Achieves 2023 GSBA Exemplary School Board Status
The Murray County School District is proud to announce the achievement and status of the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) 2023 Exemplary School Board recognition. The recognition program showcases best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement. The Murray County School Board met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn the honor of a 2023 Exemplary Board. The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership. In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education. The GSBA Board recognition program is three-tiered. For more information on the program, you may visit the GSBA website for awards and recognition or to view the criteria for all program tiers. Congratulations to our board, and thank you for all you do!

🍎🥪🥦 Celebrating National School Lunch Week! 🎉 This week, we've had some special guests join our incredible school nutrition staff to serve up delicious meals and spread joy. 🙌 Did you know that the National School Lunch Act, established under Richard B. Russell and signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1946, provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost, or no-cost lunches to children each school day? 📜 Georgia boasts the fifth-largest program in the nation, serving around 4.9 billion lunches throughout the school year. 🍽️ In the 2022-2023 school year, Murray County played its part by serving a whopping 823,421 lunches! Our nutrition staff takes immense pride in ensuring our students enjoy delicious and nutritious meals daily. 🤩 We're also thrilled to share that three of our lunchrooms achieved the prestigious title of "Georgia Tray of The Week" and were recently honored by the state in Macon. 🏆 Join us in our mission to "Level Up with School Lunch"! A big thank you to our dedicated nutrition staff and everyone who supports our efforts to nourish and educate our students. 👏👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 Let's continue to shape tomorrow by empowering our students today together! 💪 #SchoolLunchWeek #NutritionMatters #ThankYouNutritionStaff #URmurray
