Chorus Details

Rehearsals/Events/Deadlines

The chorus rehearses Tuesday and Thursday afternoons 2:15 - 3:30 p.m. If your child is at school, he/she is expected to attend the rehearsal. Attendance is very important. If your child consistantly does not attend rehearsals he/she will be dropped from the group.

These are the guidelines for the chorus.

Purpose: The students will gain experience in singing, reading music, and performance.

Activities:
• Read and understand written music
• Sing a variety of styles
• Sing in harmony
• Perform locally and represent our school in district and statewide events
• Play instruments

Requirements:
Grade levels: 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade Northwest students
Rehearsals
• Students must be able to attend Tuesday and Thursday after school
• Students must be picked up on time or they will be sent to After Care. (If you do not have money in your child’s After Care account he/she will not be allowed to come to chorus. More information: After Care 706-695-2262.)
Performances
• Students must be able to attend performances (see schedule)
• Students will need to dress appropriately (see schedule)
Cost
• Minimal costs for fieldtrips (amounts will be announced)
• A minimum of $10 must be placed in After Care account for the times that you are late to pick-up your child. (This covers 2 days)
• You will need to purchase the chorus shirt which is $15. Students will wear it with a good pair of blue jeans and a belt for all performances and pictures.

Attitude and Behavior:

Students are responsible for their behavior, and they are expected to participate and follow school rules while in chorus. Attitudes and behavior unbecoming of a student will result in suspension from the chorus.

Chorus Attendance:
• If a student misses a rehearsal and has a not from his/her guardian for his/her absence, he/she will be excused. The note must be given to the director. Chorus attendance is separate from school attendance.
• Excessive unexcused absences will result in suspension from the chorus.
• Regardless of excused or unexcused absences, if a student has missed too many rehearsals the director reserves the right to not allow the student to perform with the chorus. A student can not learn the music if he/she is not in rehearsal.

Chorus Rules:
1. Do your best
2. Be polite
3. No gum, candy, chips, cookies, crackers. In other words students must be prepared to sing.
4. School rules apply and are enforced.

Dismissal Procedures:
Pick-up is at the front of the school. Do not come to the Music Room to get your child unless you must pick him/her up early. When you pick-up your child early during the school day, please ask your child's teacher to let me know.

Please be prompt for chorus pick-up. If your child is not picked-up on time he/she will be sent to After Care. It is necessary that you make arrangements with After Care for that rare occasion when circumstance prevents your arrival. Please park along the sidewalk so that your child does not walk across the driveway. This is a safety issue. Students actively participating in After Care will be sent directly to After Care. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
